it is very scary. >> neighbors in fear. two families left devastated. two men on motorcycles crashed and died as they tried to escape gunfire. i'm ama dates. it happened just after 5:00 on cashmere. both were taken to san francisco general hospital and that's where lilian kim is tonight. lilian? >> ama, those men were pro -- pronounced dead shortly after they arrived. the two were riding around in the neighborhood for quite some time before shots rang out. >> i was in my house and i just heard the gunshots. >> neighbors heard a dozen gunshots before two men on their motorcycles crashed in san francisco's bay view district. one ended up in the middle of the street. julie anna spears heard the

whole thing from the balcony and called 9-1-1. >> you can hear the bikes coming up and the bike dies out. i can hear my son's girlfriend yelling outside and then saying somebody is down. >> moments later neighbors found the second man and his motorcycle near a tree. san francisco police say at least one of the men was shot while trying to flee from the gunfire. the gunfire de stex sis -- detection system alerted them to the shooting. they say they are investigating leads. >> it is scary. it is very scary. like i said, i am on blood pressure pills and my blood pressure is going up jie. they will conduct autopsies to determine if each victim died from the crash, the gunshots or both. in san francisco, lilian kim, abc7 news. >> detectives are investigating two deaths at a motel. officers say a housekeeper at the easy 8 motel on north first street found two women

dead this afternoon. the police are still trying to determine if a crime was committed. police have not identified the two women. new at 11:00, crews are still on the scene of a spectacular fire. an abandoned building at the north end of the island caught fire shortly after 7:00. the fire quickly went to four alarms, but firefighters decided to let it burn itself out. >> we took a defensive stance and allowed water supply to burn. >> right now investigators are at the scene of the fire determining the cause. happening now, looting after a vigil for a man killed by a police officer got out of hand. this is in ferguson, missouri. people were seen running out of a clothing store with arm full of clothes. it started during a vigil for an 18-year-old man who died

after an officer involved shooting. for the first time we are hearing from a woman beaten by a chp officer beaten on the side of the provide in los angeles. a driver shot this video on a cell phone. he repeatedly hit her on the side of interstate 10 in l.a. the chp said the officer was trying to stop her from walking into traffic. she says she did not provoke what came next. >> he was beating me like i was a man. it was the strength he would use on a man. like they used on rodney king. i thought he was trying to kill me and beat me to death. he was socking me with all of his strength like it was all he had for no reason. i did nothing to him. >> chp hasn't identified the officer, but pen knock filed a lawsuit against the chp and an officer named david l andrew. an investigation is underway after an off duty

l.a. -- lapd officer was caught pointing her gun at a driver. it started after he changed lanes in front of the officer. police confirm the driver called 9-1-1 and the off duty officer called the chp. new fire concerns tonight as thunderstorms move into northern california. several counties are under a red flag warning. you can see them here indicated in red on this national weather service map. a fire weather watch is in affect for the counties in yellow. locally the areas most at risk are eastern alameda, contra costa and napa and santa clara counties. look at video from the california national guard. it shows the unit dropping water 234 shasta county. the fire has destroyed several homes and two commercial buildings and it is now 45% contained. abc7 news meteorologist is tracking this system with live doppler 7hd. >> live doppler 7hd is showing quiet conditions around the bay area. but we are continuing to see

all of these thunderstorms and the lightning activity up in the sierra and especially near south lake tahoe. and it continues to neat. the red flag warning in affect through tuesday morning as a well as the fire weather watch. to communities and counties closer to us including solano county as well. and now we also could see some lightning strikes off the coast and lightning strikes tomorrow afternoon and into tuesday. i will explain with the accu-weather seven-day forecast coming up. >> it was a shocking sight that appeared overnight in one san jose neighborhood. an act of graffiti so brazen. laura anthony is live with the details. >> we have all become so accustomed to seeing graffiti on abandoned buildings and freeway overpasses, but not in a place like this. this is what one neighbor woke

up to this morning as she went out for a walk and came upon this in her willow glen neighborhood. a highly offensive defacing of the lima family memorial chapel. a place where families like this one come to say their final goodbyes to lost loved ones. by the time anna lopez arrived with her extended family to pay their last respects, the graffiti was gone. >> i can you imagine coming here for your service and seeing that? >> i would have been upset. i wouldn't have liked that at all. >> the owner of the lima family chapel was not available. but it was clear from the rapid repainting that getting rid of the graffiti was a high priority. meantime this family and the neighbors are left to wonder who would do such a thing to this place. >> we think it is cool, but it

is not. >> to me it is the same disrespect. whether you do it to a funeral home or church or somebody else's home. >> police did not comment on the now departed graffiti. in san jose, laura anthony, abc7 news. >> san jose is hours away from beginning to clean up a homeless camp called the jungle. the jungle is near 280. about 200 people currently live there. city officials passed out fliers detailing the clean up and they say those who don't move will be subject to criminal prosecution. >> this is where we are at. this is home for us. as bad as it may look and whatnot, this is home. >> a lot of people just keep bringing water and food and you can't argue the point. there is a time to stop. stop it now. >> homeless advocates are calling it an eviction. the clean up begins at 7:00

deadly crash that killed a race car driver in upstate new york. it began with an altercation in in -- on the track and ended in tragedy. marcy gonzalez has the latest. >> that sick feeling still weighing on michael. he hit and killed at the track in rochester. he got out of his vehicle

following a crash and walked on to the dimly lit track and as he pointed a finger toward tony stewart's on coming car he was hit. >> people get out of their cars. the perch -- the person going past their car goes around them and not run them over. >> one person swerved out of ward's way, but as stuart passed, the right rear hit him and investigators looking into everything from witness accounts to how dark it was on the track. and interviewing stuart for his side of the story. >> there is no evidence on hand and no facts that would support a criminal charge. >> known as controversial driver with a temper, deciding not to take part in today's nascar race. saying there are not words to describe the sadness he feels about ward's death. calling it an emotional team for all involved.

50 years ago the beatles played their final concert at the stick. other memories are willie mays' 3,000th hit and the catch by dwight clark. it will be demolished for a housing and retail complex. tomorrow marks the 80 80th anniversary of the opening of the rock. it was home to convicts such as al capone and machine gun kelly it was closed in 1963. alcatraz lives on today as one of the nation's most popular tourist attractions. for the second time in two months a super moon is gracing the night sky. the super moon happens at the point where it is closest to earth. it looks bigger. you will have one more chance to see the phenomenon on september 9th. fortunately the skies were clear enough to see it tonight. let's get to meteorologist francis for a look on our weather and what is ahead this week. >> we have clear skies this evening. good viewing conditions.

right now we see live clouds along the coast, but lots of clear skies as well. we did see the super moon earlier this evening and san francisco is 61 and oakland 62 and san carlos and san jose 63 and 61 as well in gilroy and half moon bay. we are looking out west toward the bay bridge and temperatures in the 50s for santa rosa and napa and novato and still hanging on to the low 60s in fairfield, concord 1k3 livermore. the temperatures are still running roughly a little warmer than they were compared to 24 hours ago for many locations. that was the trend today. we saw more sunshine and a lot of warmer temperatures compared to yesterday. the temperatures will hold fairly steady for monday. here is a look now from sue trough toward downtown san francisco. here is what you can expect. we have spotty drizzle overnight. lightning is possible, but not very likely. we could see it in some of the higher elevations in the east

bay hills and the north bay mountains. a subtle warming trend continues into the workweek. the water vapor shows the moisture content and this clockwise and counter clockwise circulation drawing in moisture and bringing us a chance of lightning tomorrow afternoon. the forecast animation shows it is less likely, but we could wake up to spotty drizzle along the coast tomorrow morning and we will see more sunshine tomorrow afternoon. that's why temperatures hold fairly steady. the overnight lows will be in the 50s. look for 56 in san francisco and in oakland. a little milder in antioch and 59 degrees. 57 in san jose. overall still a pleasant day and we will see warm conditions. 81 in san jose. look for 77 in sun intoe veil. 70s -- in sunnyvale. 77 brentwood city and at the coast mid60s and 65 in pacifica and in the sunset district downtown.

i'm ama dates. breaking news in ferguson, missouri which is in st. louis. looting has been reported after a a vigil for a man shot and killed in an officer-involved shooting. the 18-year-old victim was unarmed. many people were calling it a case of police brutality. firefighters let an abandoned marine corp baric burn to the ground. they had to let it burn because of water supply issues. they started around 7:00 and crews will remain on the scene tonight. two men are dead after san francisco police say they crashed their motorcycles trying to escape gunfire. it happened this afternoon in san francisco's bay view district. witnesses say they heard the motorcycles riding around for quite some time before the shooting. police say both men died at the hospital.

in san jose, police are investigating after two women were found dead in a motel room this afternoon. a housekeeper found the bodies. u.s. warplanes carried out more air raids today in iraq. kurdish forces recaptured two towns from the islamic militants known as isis. here is the latest jie. bombing runs like these battered the isis positions in iraq. the u.s. warplanes were sent into action after president obama decided to expand the u.s. military role in iraq. >> we continue to pursue a broader strategy in iraq. so that the terrorists cannot establish a permanent safe haven. >> on saturday at 11:20 a.m. eastern time the fighter jets and the drones destroyed an armored personnel care -- carrier. the u.s. aircraft struck three more targets with a follow-up strike destroying another. at 3:00 p.m., the final target of the day was demolished.

the left side. i looked out the left side and i saw the smoke coming out of the engine. >> we came and held everybody back. >> jetblue confirmed that the fire began after a bird flew into one of the engines. three people suffered minor injuries during the evacuation. good samaritans pulled a family of three from the burning wreckage after a plane crashed in salt lake city. seeing the plane in trouble three people raced to the crash site at the soccer field just in time. >> when we got there the heat was coming into the cockpit there. we had to work fast. and then three, three minutes of pulling them out. >> the three victims are in critical condition. marin county residents had a chance to recover their stolen bikes. sheriff deputies rolled out

stepping up to address assaults on college campuses they will require universities to set a standard to defining assault. yes means yes. colleges and universities may soon have another way to lure perspective students. using virtual reality the company has created created created a program that will give people a tour of campuses. it uses headsets of companies owned. >> our mission is making the campus visits more attainable to students. we are not replacing the

actual visit. we are making the kids more excited about doing the visit. >> this is footage of a virtual tour of yale. they will market this program and headsets to schools for recruiters to take with them to high school visits. paying your bills with automatic payments can give you peace of mind you won't miss a deadline. but one couple found there was a mistake in auto pay and their money was going to the wrong place every month. 7 on your side's michael finney tracked it down. >> larry walter drives off in the family's new suv. his wife silvia sends off the car payment. >> i must have sent in at least 12 or 13 payments. always on time and always for the same amount. >> she set up the automatic payment with her bank just to make sure and it worked just fine until capital one changed the account number on their car loan. >> i went into the internet and went into the account and i changed the number. >> that's where the problem

began. >> i don't know where i got the number from. i really don't. >> somehow she typed an incorrect account number for that car loan. >> and i didn't have a martini for lunch either when i put the numbers in. >> so the automatic payments were still going out, but where they ended up she had no idea. so she didn't even know mig was wrong until she received this past due notice from capital one. it said she missed two car payments. >> and that's when i explained to them that it was on ought take pay from the bank and they had to get it because it was out of my account. >> the bank drafted this letter confirming payments were sent from the couple's checking account to capital one. still capital one was saying thisy never received them. >> i said you mean to tell me my payments just vanished into thin air? he said yeah that's exactly what i'm telling you. >> soon the couple began getting collection notices. silvia kept calling capital

one jie. she was on the phone pour six hours. >> i couldn't seem to get anywhere with these people. >> and i was ready to just give the car back. >> i finally decided to go to 7 on your side. >> we contacted capital one and it wasn't long before the bank did track down the money. capital one tells us it can't discuss the case because of privacy rules, but it said if a customer uses the wrong account number capital one's payment research department conducts due diligence to locate the funds which typically end up you in an unidentified payment account. once a customer provides bank statements showing the funds are dispersed to us we put the funds in the correct account which it did. >> i really appreciate all that channel 7 did for me. >> here is the bottom line. check to see they are correctly posted. check to see if are you charged the correct amount. one mistake can snowball into a bigger problem.
